New York Rangers

Founded: 1926

Championships: 4 (1927-28, 1932-33, 1939-40, 1993-94)

History:

A member of the Original Six, the New York Rangers were founded in 1926 and were the first NHL franchise in the United States to win the Stanley Cup.

Overview:

The Rangers will enter the 2013/14 season with a sour taste in their mouths after getting swept by the Boston Bruins in the playoffs last spring. Rick Nash will further the Rangers chances of a return to the Stanley Cup Finals from two years ago. Goaltender Henrik Lundqvist will be solid in net. The Rangers defense first mentality along with their loaded stars up front, will make the Rangers a very tough opponent every night. New coach, Alain Vigneault, should provide a much needed spark for this franchise to attempt to get over the hump that has plagued them for years now. The Rangers on paper, should be in the finals or there or there about every single year. The question Rangers fans need to ask themselves is, “Is Vigneault the guy?” Only time will tell.

How to Play as the Rangers:

With the Rangers balanced attack, keep your lines fresh and you will surely have success. Don’t be afraid to take some chances because you have great team defense and Henrik Lundqvist behind you along with a stellar defense which includes Ryan McDonaugh and Dan Girardi. Try to look for powerplays because you have many stars to choose from.

Fun Fact:

While playing just blocks away from Times Square in the middle of New York City’s Roaring 20’s nightlife, the New York Rangers obtained the now famous nickname, “The Broadway Blueshirts”.
